What is low carbon cement and zero carbon cement?
2024-10-23 10:09
Professor Zhai Guanjie, director of the Fly Ash Research Institute of Dezhou University, is an expert in geopolymer cement, and concurrently serves as the chairman of the Geopolymer Industrialization Professional Committee of the Solid Waste Branch of the Chinese Silicate Society.Posted on March 19. Recently, China Cement Network and Professor Zhai Guanjie launched a communication.
Q:Everyone is raising low-carbon cement and low-carbon cementitious materials. Please ask Professor Zhai to give us what are low-carbon cement and low-carbon cementitious materials under popular science, and how to classify them specifically? The principle of low-carbon? A new term that just appeared. How is Zero Carbon Cement defined?
Professor Zhai Guanjie introduced:Low-carbon cement and low-carbon cementitious materials refer to the reduced carbon footprint in the manufacturing process. In short, it is to greatly reduce the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
Low-carbon cements include:geopolymer cement, fired clay cement, high belite cement, calcium sulphoaluminate-Belite cement, alkali activated cement, slag gypsum cement and calcined gypsum cement, also including traditional fly ash Portland cement, slag Portland cement, composite Portland cement, etc. Low-carbon cement is divided into raw material low-carbon cement (also known as no clinker type or less clinker type) and process low-carbon cement (also known as mixed material type).
Low carbon cement raw materials include:geopolymer cement, fired clay cement, high belite cement, calcium sulphoaluminate-Belite cement, alkali activated cement, slag gypsum cement and calcined gypsum cement, etc. The principle of low carbon is that this kind of cement has no clinker or less clinker, no calcium carbonate decomposition or less calcium carbonate decomposition, and solid waste resource utilization.
Process low-carbon type cement (also called mixed type) includes:Fly ash Portland cement, slag Portland cement, composite Portland cement and slag gypsum cement. Low-carbon principle: The addition of active mineral admixtures reduces the proportion of high-emission clinker, consumes a lot of solid waste, and reduces carbon dioxide as a whole.
Low-carbon cementitious materials other than cement include:Calcium carbide slag fired lime (direct emission of carbon dioxide without decomposition of calcium carbonate), from industrial by-product gypsumBeta-type semi-water gypsum (building gypsum powder: low-temperature calcined desulfurization gypsum, low-temperature calcined phosphogypsum, etc.) and all-solid waste-type cementitious materials.
zero carbon cement:No carbon footprint in the whole life cycle (only absorbing and not emitting carbon dioxide) and using green electricity and95-100% solid waste manufacturing of ecological cementitious materials. Zero carbon basis: solid waste that has been listed on the national bulk solid waste list does not account for its carbon footprint. The source of alkali activator used in geopolymer cement, electrolytic cement (new technology of MIT) and alkali-activated cement should be waste alkali or green electricity electrolysis.
Zero carbon cement includes:geopolymer cement, electrolytic cement, alkali-activated cement and all-solid waste gelding materials. With the development of new cement technology, low-carbon cement, zero-carbon cement and negative carbon cement will become the mainstream application materials, and the cement industry will move towards a more energy-efficient, greener and environmentally friendly future. China cement network will beFrom October 24 to 25, the "2024 China Cement Double Carbon Conference and the 12th Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology Exchange Conference" was held at Wuhu Conch International Hotel ". The conference will focus on the core issues of low-carbon development and green upgrading in the cement industry, discuss the application of energy efficiency improvement and energy saving and carbon reduction technologies, and how the cement industry can use the carbon trading mechanism to promote its own low-carbon transformation.
