Daily Lesson on Equipment Management (Characteristics, Classification, and Layout of Belt Conveyors)
2025-07-31 00:00
Characteristics of Belt Conveyors: Compared with other types of conveying equipment, belt conveyors have advantages such as high conveying capacity, simple structure, strong adaptability to materials, stable and reliable operation, continuous and uniform conveying of materials, low transportation costs, easy maintenance, and easy implementation of automatic and remote control. They are widely used in steel companies for steelmaking, ironmaking, sintering, coking, and raw material storage. I. Classification of Belt Conveyors:
1. According to different belt types: ordinary belt conveyors, steel cord belt conveyors, special belt conveyors; 2. According to the connection method between the conveyor frame and the foundation: fixed belt conveyors, mobile belt conveyors; 3. According to the structure of the support device: roller support conveyors, flat support conveyors; 4. According to the difference in the trough angle of the rollers: ordinary trough angle belt conveyors, deep trough angle belt conveyors; 5. According to the number of drive rollers: single drive belt conveyors, double drive belt conveyors, multi-drive belt conveyors; II. Layout of Belt Conveyors
(I) Types of Layouts: Belt conveyors can be used to convey materials horizontally or at an incline. Depending on the installation location and space, belt conveyors have the following four basic layout forms: Four basic forms: 1. Horizontal Layout: The centerlines of the head and tail rollers of the belt conveyor are in the same horizontal plane, and the inclination angle of the belt conveyor is 0°. 2. Inclined Layout: The centerlines of the head and tail rollers of the belt conveyor are in the same inclined plane, and all the upper rollers or lower rollers are in the same inclined plane. 3. Layout with Convex Arc Section: A layout method that combines the latter half of the inclined layout with the former half of the horizontal layout.
4. Layout with Concave Arc Section: A layout method that combines the latter half of the horizontal layout with the former half of the inclined layout.
There are also combinations of the above convex and concave arc curves. (II) Layout Principles: The actual inclination angle of the belt conveyor depends on the coefficient of dynamic friction between the material being conveyed or other materials and the conveyor belt, the cross-sectional shape of the conveyor belt (horizontal or trough), the angle of repose of the material, the loading method, and the speed of the conveyor belt.
