Motor Application - Installation Dimension Code Analysis

2025-07-11 00:00

The motor mounting dimension code ensures precise matching and stable operation of the motor with various equipment. It is a "language code" that uses a combination of letters and numbers to standardize key information such as installation method, external specifications, and connection parameters.

The logical structure of the combination of letters and numbers 01

The motor mounting dimension code uses an alternating and layered coding method of letters and numbers. Letters are used to classify and define the motor's installation type and component attributes; numbers serve as specific quantitative indicators, precisely indicating parameters such as component size, hole distance, and shaft diameter. This combination method has both category recognition and precise numerical values, ensuring information consistency between different manufacturers and users.

Analysis of the installation method code 02

The combination of letters and numbers in the code clearly defines the motor's installation posture and fixing method. For example, In IMB3, "IM" is an abbreviation for "International Mounting", serving as the starting identifier for the installation method code; "B" indicates horizontal installation, meaning the motor's axis is horizontal; "3" further explains the installation details, representing a base with feet, fixed to the base component via base foot bolts, and without a flange on the end cover. Similarly, in IMV1, "V" represents vertical installation, meaning the motor axis is perpendicular to the ground, and "1" indicates that the base does not have feet and is installed via a flange on the end cover, with the shaft extending downwards.

Precise marking of external dimensions 03

The combination of letters and numbers in the code can also accurately describe the motor's external profile. For example, H represents the distance from the motor axis to the bottom of the foot, a key basic dimension that directly affects the motor's spatial height in the overall equipment layout. AC represents the motor diameter, determining the motor's horizontal space; AB represents the distance between the outer edges of the feet (end view), used to determine the width adaptation range of the motor mounting base. With these dimension codes, equipment designers can quickly determine whether the motor meets the installation space requirements.

Information transmission of connection dimensions 04

When connecting the motor to other equipment, the combination of letters and numbers in the code provides key connection parameters. For example, D represents the shaft extension diameter, E represents the shaft extension length; these two dimensions are directly related to the matching of the motor output shaft with transmission components (such as pulleys and couplings); M represents the base circle diameter of the flange mounting hole, and N represents the flange stop diameter, used to determine the fixing hole position and positioning dimensions when the motor is installed via a flange. These codes ensure precise mechanical connection between the motor and external equipment, avoiding installation problems due to dimensional mismatch.
