Equipment Management Weekly Lesson (Belt Joint Making Method and Vulcanization Lap Length)
2025-07-23 00:00
I. Common conveyor belt joint manufacturing and application types are as follows:

II. Vulcanization method for conveyor belt joints, Steel cord conveyor belt Special Note: In iron and steel metallurgy and mining, involving the transportation of ore, coke, and sinter. The key points of the manufacturing method for this type of large conveyor belt joint are as follows: :
1. Pre-vulcanization preparation
Check the performance of equipment such as vulcanizing machines and grinders, ensuring that the temperature difference of the heating plate is ≤±3℃, and the water pressure system can stably supply 1.5 - 2.0MPa pressure. Prepare the corresponding rubber materials; use natural or styrene-butadiene rubber for ordinary belts, and silicone rubber or other high-temperature resistant rubber for heat-resistant belts. Mark the center line of the joint on the conveyor belt, and cut the cross-section vertically; peel off the joint layer by layer in a stepped manner, with each layer approximately 150mm wide, and clean it after grinding to avoid contamination. For steel cord belts, the rubber layer needs to be peeled off, cleaned, and a small amount of rubber should be left to wrap the steel wire. 2. Vulcanization operation points
Vulcanization temperature for ordinary belts
140 - 150℃, 150 - 160℃ for heat-resistant belts; the heating rate is controlled at 1 - 3℃/min, and pressure is applied to the set value at around 80℃. Interlock the steel wire ropes according to the design, fill and compact the rubber material, and cover the unvulcanized surface rubber. The vulcanization time for ordinary belts is 30 - 60 minutes, and 45 - 90 minutes for heat-resistant belts. After vulcanization, cool under pressure to below 60℃ before releasing the pressure. 3. Post-vulcanization inspection
Observe that the surface of the joint is flat and free of bubbles or missing rubber; measure whether the dimensional error meets the requirements, and ensure that the steel wires are arranged neatly. Conduct tensile and peel strength tests; the strength should reach 85% and 80% or more of the original belt.
85%, 80% or more; if necessary, use ultrasonic testing to detect internal defects and handle any abnormalities promptly. III. Conveyor belt joint overlap length
There is no fixed value for the overlap length of steel wire joints, large conveyor belts, and belts with inner steel wire lining. It varies depending on factors such as belt type, specifications, and jointing method. The following are some common standards and reference data:
1. Ordinary conveyor belts
When using cold glue joints, the belt overlap length is generally 1-1.2 times the belt width. For example, the overlap length for a B500 conveyor belt is 500-600mm; for a B650 conveyor belt, it is 600-750mm; for a B800 conveyor belt, it is 750-900mm; and for a B1000 conveyor belt, it is 1050-1200mm. 2. Steel wire rope core conveyor belt When using vulcanized joints, the overlap length is related to the belt strength specifications. For example, for a first-order joint with ST630-ST800 strength specifications, the minimum step length is 450-500mm, and the joint length is 750-800mm; while for a third-order joint with ST3500-ST4500 strength specifications, the minimum step length is 950-1100mm, and the joint length is 3250-3700mm. 3. Solid core plastic conveyor belt When using the plastic method for connection, the overlap length is 300mm for wider belts, and 500mm for belts with widths of 650mm and 500mm. Specific overlap lengths can also refer to the technical parameters provided by the belt manufacturer; products from different manufacturers may vary. 300mm,在带宽为 650mm、500mm 时取 500mm。具体的搭接长度还可参照胶带厂家提供的技术参数,不同厂家的产品可能存在差异。
